I was reading this story on the Electronic Frontier Foundation. I wonder how this program will work since the program will need to collect data from both the receiver and sender. When we use P2P file sharing, the fragments of data completing the file comes from many different seeds (senders). I doubt website offering video streaming will install the program on their servers. I don’t think ISP’s are concerned by any other traffic right now. That story made me think of something weird that happened to me.
I usually run WireShark once a week for thirty minutes. You can find some scary stuff “207.67.50.20“. The IP brings you to a KeyWord Tracking and anylytic tools website. I was pretty shocked since the computer had been formated a month ago. Worse is I only used that computer for “html, PhP” editing and to watch movies.
My question:
Is there a way to have code embedded in a picture. When you click on it, the code runs quietly in the background and installs a program?
You live in France, it’s time to switch country… Apparently when you P2P, the French Government and ISP’s will remove you Internet access! This came out on Techcrunch.
I don’t have any internet provider, my neightbours have great non protected wireless connections. If i lived in France, my neightbours could loose their right to internet because of me.

Dr Martin Cooper, a former general manager for the systems division at Motorola, is considered the inventor of the first modern portable handset. The first call on a portable cell phone was made in April 1973. In 1994, 16 million Americans subscribed to cellular phone services. In 2001, more than 110 million Americans were subscribers. Mobile operators will have notched up more than 3.25 billion mobile phone subscriptions worldwide by the end of the year. We all know cell phone usage increases the risk of brain tumor, if you are not convinced, start a little research on your own.
Tones of data flying thrown in the air while there are long term health risks associated with electromagnetic radiations.
What are Electromagnetic Radiations. I’m not expert on the matter but this is what I know:
- It consists of two component, an electric field and magnetic field.
- It can be defined as a “wave characterized by variations of electric and magnetic fields”. EM waves can travel through space while carrying energy at the speed of light.
- Radio wave frequencies, can damage the structure and function of the nervous system and any biologic tissue.
-Power density is the amount of power distributed over a given area. Power density is expressed in watts per square meter (W/m2 )
-the ANSI C95.1-1982 standard is 1 mW/cm2 for frequencies of greatest concern to us
-You can consult the Electromagnetic Spectrum of frequencies.
Our cities have now become a network of microwave generators on towers, on top of apartment buildings, on transmission line towers, hanging on everyone’s belt or in their purse. Add to this the myriad of emergency and safety transmitters, TV and radio broadcast towers, airport navigational and communication systems, amateur radio operators and military communications. To make matters worse, each cell network provider has their own network, multiplying the exposure by the number of providers. In many urban centers, especially around major highways and the downtown core, the radiation levels can be dangerously high.
This is the first time in history Electromagnetic waves travel through the human body in such a huge doze. And this trend is not about to diminish either. Since 1973, we observed a important rase in brain tumors and cancers. Any ideas why?
Searching in google I find stories about brain tumors, people suing companies because they were given a blackberry. How well do you really know your phone device? It’s shape and looks are great, you can surf youtube, it’s a great electronic leech. I find my book more interesting. Install your cell phone next to your computers speaker, dial to your friend and listen.
We all know the dangers of smoking alot, drinking alot, generally anything done abusivly will not have good effects on your body. Few ones are scared of such devices because of the pressure from telecom companies. I really feel sorry to see a 7 year old kid playing with his cell phone. We Will see brain tumors and cancers appear at a very early stage.
A morning going to work. I’m waiting at the train station and I see a scary mass agglutinated every 40 meters. The train arrives and they politely push each, everyone seems eager to get to the stable. Everyone is squeezed and calm a bit like sheeps. On my left, someone is playing with his Iphone. On my right, a school girl arguying on the phone waether she should date him or not (6h50 am).
Sitting in front, two men doing something apparently interesting on their ugly widescreen toshiba.
Let’s stop, what a scary vision of what we becomed.
The lab rat generation, let’s hope for the best, I’m pretty pesimist on this subject.
Here is a list of interesting websites on the matter.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police won’t track those who download music for personal use, reported the Canadian newspaper Le Devoir.
Piracy for personal use is no longer targeted, “says Noel Hilaire, head of the federal investigations and issues stolen copyrights for the RCMP.
The RCMP has also agreed that this type of crime is not among its priorities. She says she ranks first crimes against intellectual property that have an impact on the health or safety of consumers, as well as those that affect organized crime.
This is a great news for us living in Canada. Alot of people stoped downloading. Today, most will go buy DvDs. Most of them switched behavior because of all the brainwash we are facing…Piracy and copyright infringement is a crime…downloading is a crime…The famous commercial you get before every movie you watch at the theatre. Well not that famous since i was not able to find it.
It’s rare for me not feel ripped off when i get out of a movie presentation. This piracy movement is a clear message to these producers: Lower your prices and add some intelligent content to your stories.
It’s hard to go after the people downloading material when there is not even detailed Laws on the matter.
Let’s say I pay 10$ to watch “Downfall”. A movie worth to see, I will have to pay another 20$ for the DvD!!!
I bought my movie, I’m alloud to view it as many times as i want. Now what about my brother, he is aloud to watch it with me or is it copyright infringement?
If i want to lend my owned copy to a friend and he decides to watch it with his family, three of his friends, his girlfriend and dog. Are they in copyright infringement?
Let’s say I’m scared to lose or scratch my DvD and I burn a backup copy, am I doing something illegal?
If I download the movie instead of purchasing the DvD, am I in copyright infringement since I already paid at the theatre? What if I paid to watch the presentation, I bought the DvD, and I decide to download the same data. Is it illegal?
The movie will finally appear on TV, we all grew up with a video recorder and copyed what we found interesting. Was that copyright infringement?
What is the difference when we download some data? It relies on the speed and way we obtain the information now. People now rip TV-shows directly on their servers. The data is available almost instantly after the end of the show.
All this to say there is a vast disparity between copyright law and copyright norms. We are all in copyright infringement, a little example could be a twelve year old girl taking a picture of her friends with a known painting in the background.
It was on a Tuesday afternoon, while working in the office, a friend gives me a call:
<< Pablo, there is a guy playing chess in the street… >>
I was about to take my lunch break, i brought my sandwiches and meet my friend on st Catherines street. There was a big crowd around the chess players but I managed to have a peak at the hosting player. We were able to get closer to the chess board.
It was a simple chess carpet garnished with some nicely shaped wooden pieces. There was a Jamaican flag on one side, and a Quebec flag on the other. A sign was also stating he was gathering some money in order to fly to Jamaica to see his sick father. While observing some other games, I noticed everyone sitting was playing one single game. Each player had three minutes to work his brain out and vanquish his opponent.
I watched about eight games before asking to have a seat. All the players before me had lost pretty fast, which was normal, considering the game was played outside in the streets downtown. Chess isn’t an easy game to play; it’s much harder under the pressure of three minutes, the crowd around, and the music coming from his “beat box”. The speed and strength of his moves impressed me, and you could tell this guy had been playing and reading about chess.
I sat in front of him and we introduced each other, we had the same birthday name: Pablo. The fact he was Jamaican, played speed chess and had my name amused me. I observed the pieces and clock while he was searching for a new music before we start the game. I was pretty stressed in the beginning. I was playing much faster then him but I often forgot to press on the clock after my moves. He often pushed it for me in the beginning but stopped later during the game when his position on the board wasn’t looking to good. He somehow managed to get away from the attack and started a violent attack on my king. The time was ticking and both parties didn’t have much time left. I then saw a way to mate him in three moves, if only he would push that pawn after I would have pushed mine. Which he did. I pushed my pawn a second time, innocently blocking his king’s escape when my queen and bishop would give the final unstoppable attack. I was pretty surprised when he left the fifth teen seconds left on his clock and knocked his king aside. He had seen it and he was pretty amazed on how I had pulled the combination.
He told me what he was doing in Montreal, that I was the first person beating him. He wanted to play a second game but I had to go back to work and I left five dollars for the enjoyable moment it had been. I left pretty exited, and I decided to come back with my camera sometime during the following week to film myself playing against him.
You can watch one game here.
I played nine games with Pablo and the result was surprisingly 6.5/2.5 in my favor. On the side was a little suitcase half opened. I often saw people watching, some passing just in front, leaving 20$ bills in the suitcase. He stayed two weeks in total. He was playing downtown Montreal, on St Catherine’s street almost in front on the Eaton center. I posted my video on Youtube last year, and saw other videos of him playing chess in different countries. Some saw him playing in Malaga, Spain. Others saw him in Perth Western Australia. There is this footage of him playing, but I’m not sure where there game is being played at.
I think this guy is really smart. Traveling the world, he arrives in a city and already has a job there. His chess carpet, clock, pieces, the paper sign and his radio hold in one little suitcase. There is nothing illegal in what he’s doing, all he needs is a spot on the sidewalk two meters in length, two meters wide.
Chess was played many centuries ago in China, India, and Persia. It has spread around the map and has always been considered a skilled game. It’s rare even for a person that doesn’t play the game not to stop by and be interested about the chess board. Playing two weeks in the street of cities must generate some good money.
This could be a good example for the people living on the streets. I’m not saying this guy lives on the streets, but he spends his day in them and makes a lot of profits out of it with this great idea. There must be tons of other ideas like this one, but then again, if they are in the street, it’s generally because they are addicted to something and the only goal in life is to obtain the precious drug.
Pablo “the Jamaican Chess player” started to upload videos of himself playing all kinds of people around the world. It’s very interesting to see the way he is travelling in all the parts of of the planet.
He goes under: uselessatchess on YouTube.com.

I only saw him lose twice out of all his footages.
